LEARNING GOALS:

• I can identify and explain the key functions and techniques for drawing with the Illustrator pen tool anchor points and paths as follows:
  
  
  • I can explain the analogy between how the pen tool works and how string art is created (hammer, nails and string) [STRING ART EXAMPLES] (05-04)
  
  
  • I can explain the differences between the purposes of the three types of anchor points, including CORNER (tc 0:00), SMOOTH (tc 2:00), and CHANGE DIRECTION (tc 3:13) anchor points. (05-04)
  
  
  • I can explain how to use the anchor point control handle.
    
    
  • I can demonstrate the pen tool with three types of anchor points;
    
    
    • I can demonstrate how to create a simple triangle using CORNER anchor points for straight line paths. (05-05 7:37)
      
      
    • I can demonstrate how to create a circle, and an s-curve using SMOOTH anchor points and control handles. (05-06 timecode 0:00 to 4:25)
      
      
    • I can demonstrate how to create a wave pattern using CHANGE DIRECTION anchor points and control handles. (05-06 timecode 4:25 to 9:47)

TURN-IN FOR ASSESSMENT:

• In your notebook wiki, create a new page C045.1 ANCHOR POINTS in the course outline.
• Post the above learning goals, then under each of the objectives, provide evidence that you have achieved the learning goal. You evidence of the 4th goal (demonstrate the pen tool) will be JPG exports of the three exercises.
• When you complete the wiki page, copy the URL and add it as a link in the EDMODO assignment TURN-IN.
